Cody +Jessie - Castle Wedding - When it feels like a movie - Romantic, Timeless, Nostalgic Images

This wedding was one that will stick with me for a long time. There are days like this one, where I feel like I could do this job every day of my life, forever. It was such a gift to document this couple's love story, their connection, their tribe, and the stories that surround this couple that made their day so important and emotional, for so many reasons. It truly felt like I was in an old movie ... and the images reflect that too. The romantic timeless images I could create here with Cody and Jessie, felt so effortless with their families, the the old world charm and nostalgia, and their epic love that wrapped around us.
Jessie and Cody were so connected, and the energy between them was so beautiful and easy to capture. The only had me for half a day, and their gallery was full of hundreds of incredible portraits and moments that they will look back on and love forever.
Light, it's what I look for first and foremost. Followed closely by connection, story telling, moments.
My images are full of light, whether I find it flowing through a window, outside in golden hour, or harsh light at midday ceremonies, I work the light first and try and create beautiful moments with whatever nature provides at that time. If we don't have incredible light to work with, I have other tricks with lighting to help create images that will provoke artistic flair and emotion. When looking for a wedding photographer, my advice is to always research who can work in all lighting conditions. You may have a very moody dark venue, or very harsh light for your ceremony, or dark skies and rain all day long - and you need to know your photographer can create you a beautiful gallery with whatever the conditions and environment are on the day. We can plan as best we can around weather and researching the venues, but need to be able to pivot at a moment's notice and still create gorgeous work. This day, was one of those days when all the stars aligned with the light, the love, the deep shadows and hidden light pockets in an old majestic venue.... to create a masterful creative gallery for this couple, and images that will stand the test of time and be adored for the generations to come.
At the end of the day, that's what is all about for me. To create photographs for couples that they 'feel' when they look at them. To have them in albums to hand down, or gorgeous fine art prints on their walls. I want my clients to look back at their images decades later, and still feel that connection of that moment, and how they felt at that time, and for others who see them to feel it too. To be able to feel the emotion and the romance of their story, and for their photographs to elude elegance that will still be relevant decades later.
