Every wedding is gorgeous, every wedding is unique and special in it's own way. Sometimes, all the elements come together to make the day so spectacular from start to finish to photograph. First and foremost for me it's all about the available light, or the light that we will add in to make the image magical, then come the lovely couple and the environments available to capture the day in. The wedding of Sam and Callum was at one of my favourite venues on the planet in my favourite region in Victoria - Daylesford, so we were off to a flying start.

Sam got ready at the Convent Gallery, in the penthouse suite that is available for couples to stay before and after their wedding days. Often the bride and her girls get ready there, and the boys somewhere close by.

The Convent Gallery in Daylesford, no matter what time of day I always find perfect pockets of light for portraits

I always ask the bride for an image of her dress before the day so I can visualise how I will best place the dress to show her off, every dress is different, every bride and location is different and I always like to be prepared. Sam had chosen his incredible dress from designer Demetrios Bridal. Once I received the photo from her phone of the dress - I already knew it was going to be one of the favourite gowns of the season for me to photograph. Her flowers were from a local favourite of mine Wombat Hill Florist www.wombathillflorist.com.au Hair Aman Preet, Make up by Perfect Pout. Film Crew was Dusc Weddings, and one of my fav celebrants in Melbourne - Meriki Comito who you can find at www.simplycelebrant.com.au

Callum chose a cool and classy local accommodation in Daylesford which was perfect as we had very harsh light late morning, and the accommodation had shear curtains that were available to diffuse the light. Callum wore a classic three piece tuxedo. I knew he was going to have to raise the bar with a very sharp suit after I had already previously seen his girl's incredible dress!

Autumn in the Daylesford Macedon Ranges Region floods the region in the most spectacular light in the late afternoons and it's my favourite light of the year to work in. This day did not disappoint and we were gifted with dreamy light that wrapped around the couple and their tribe all day.

The couple chose to be married in the back gardens that overlook the roof tops of the Convent with big far reaching views over Daylesford.

We rejigged our runsheet to make the most of the available natural light before sunset and chose to photograph the family photos portion of the day later in the evening so we didn't lose the opportunity of golden hour which was immediately after the ceremony. Pre-planning with your photographer is always so important to make sure you get the gallery of your dreams, all whilst working in with the service times from the venue around food and evening events.

This couple has been together for 10 years, and sealed the deal on the 2nd of May 2025. I was swept up in the gorgeous connection that they have together, which made it so beautifully effortless to photograph. I was envisaging a timeless gallery full of romantic portraits, autumn light, and authentic love. We achieved all of that and more. I am so in love with their gallery, and the clients are too.

Thank you Callum + Sam for choosing me, as always I felt so lucky being the chosen one to capture your day. I know you will treasure these precious memories forever.

With love and light, Mel P. x
